Public constitution vote likely
Most members of the Charter Drafting Committee (CDC) favour working from scratch, rather than from past charters, a spokesman for the committee said, adding that he believes the military junta will allow a public referendum on the nation's new constitution.
The idea of using the 1997 and 2007 charters as a basis for drawing up the new constitution was the first option discussed by the CDC, but the writers probably will not rely on them, said CDC spokesman , Gen Lertrat Ratanavanich.
