Since a few days I am the proud owner of a 2001 Lexus RX 300 with no Nav CPU installed and as I did not find a definite answer to my questions while browsing through the forum, I am opening a new thread here.
I don't have a navigation CPU / DVD player installed, but the buttons on the front panel and the wiring to the trunk seem to be in place.
My target / wish is to add an AV input that I can use when selecting the navigation screen (currently: external system not connected) in order to connect an android phone / stick to use for navigation / listening to music / etc (I want screen output on front panel, high def audio output on car speakers and would like to control the android device via eg. a bluetooth mouse / keyboard solution).
My questions regarding this are the following:
- Is it necessary to get a navigation DVD player to enable the navigation screen (have read sth. about a special signal that the navigation unit is sending in order to activate the screen) or are there adapters out there that "fake" a non-existent navigation unit
- If a navigation DVD player is required, which models can be used with RX300? Since I Hello everyone,
I do not have the nav DVD in the boot. But as this is an European model it has some connectors in the boot & 4 connectors at the back of the head unit.
I just want to install reverse camera to the RX300 head unit. I have attached a picture of the 4 connectors at the back of the head unit. Can anyone please let me know if it is a straight forward plug & play for the reverse camera as I do not need navigation.
I have seen some sellers sell adaptors for the reverse camera. I have attached the URL's of these items. Will any of these fit my unit as I am worried I may just be buying them incorrectly.
