Hi, gud day! im from the Philippines where more than 86 percent of the people where Roman Catholics and i myself was born and baptized as Catholic but as i grow older and as i was shall we say soul searching, as i was questioning and looking for answers for the meaning of life and so on and so forth, especially lately i find the teachings of the buddha more practical, scientific and more down to earth compared to monotheistic beliefs and traditions. It doesnt mean that I am now against the religion that i was raised from but it is in questioning that we will find enlightenment, without doubt, there will be no enlightenment. And i think pls correct me if im wrong but i think dont think buddhism itself is not a "religion" in a sense that it is commonly understood. I think it is a way of life and it is more of a philosophical and spiritual than religious. I am very much interested to learn and deepen my understanding about the buddha's teachings but i dont know how and where to begin. In the town that im from theres no buddhist communities and nobody can guide me. How will i go about it? Thank you for taking time to read my message.
