If only 5% (13,085 ha) of the estimated agricultural land were
used to produce SRWC in Latvia, with the average yield of
7e10 Mgdry ha1 yr1 and an energy content of 19 GJ/Mgdry, it
could produce 485,475e693,532 MWh of energy annually. At the
power plant energy efficiency rate of 85% it would result in
412,653e589,502 MWh of delivered heat energy, which constitutes
13e18 %of the total heat energy produced by the heating
plants in Latvia in 2012. Based on current developments, the
highest demand for heat energy might come from the Riga region,
which constitutes 36% of the total amount of heating
plants and 33% of co-generation plants in Latvia.
