Around the world focus has been changed in the energy production system to achieve a low carbon society. The shifting focus is on increasing share of renewable energy production instead of fossil fuels which is prerequisite to meet the climate change challenges [1]. In order to achieve sustainable energy development and decrease the environmental problems there are several important renewable energy sources including hydro, wind, biomass, solar and geothermal [2]. Norway has already achieved a low carbon electricity system since Norway's share of electricity production is mostly dependent on hydroelectricity. In addition, Norway has the capacity to develop more hydro and wind power [3].
