Individuals have responded “true” to questions indicating they hear sounds or voices and don’t know where they are coming from, accurately representing not psychosis, but residual hearing that makes the person aware of sounds without ability to localize them.
Similarly, caution must be used when selecting, administering, and interpreting personality tests that appear to be relatively “language free” (i.e. reading is not required).
If interpretation is used, make sure that all information (e.g.,non-manual cues such as facial expression) is included in the interpretation.
