Electrically insulating materials, such as spinel-enstatite,canasite and lithium disilicate glass-ceramics (made by Corning) as well as TS-10 glass-ceramic substrates (made by Ohara) and used in magnetic media disks for hard disk drives. These materials offer the key properties necessary for today’s higher areal density, smaller ,thinner drive designs. These glass-ceramics have high toughness , provide low surface roughness and good flatness , ultralow glide heights and excellent shock resistance.
