However, different patterns of traits were revealed for the
various domain-specific satisfaction reports. That is, early adolescents’
neuroticism (inversely), followed by conscientiousness, and
agreeableness (both positively) were substantially uniquely associated
with satisfaction with the family life. Extraversion showed a
strong unique (positive) association with satisfaction with friendships
(explaining 8% of the variance), followed by neuroticism,
which showed an inverse association. Openness demonstrated
the strongest unique (positive) association with satisfaction with
school experiences (explaining 7% of the variance). Extraversion
(positively; explaining 10% of the variance) and neuroticism (inversely;
explaining 6% of the variance) were significantly uniquely
related to satisfaction with the self. Finally, neuroticism (inversely),
conscientiousness, and extraversion (both positively) were significantly
uniquely associated with satisfaction with the overall living
environment.
