To this effect we developed a replacement operator inspired by
[24] that joins the main and offspring populations thereby
obtaining a large set of undistinguishable individuals. The
individuals with the same genotype are grouped into a single
genotype and a integer that represents its number of copies, an
MI. In order to produce the new main population, tournament
selection is performed among MI. This usually causes the fittest
genotypes to obtain multiple copies throughout generations, since
the genetic operators may produce individuals that are equal to
parents. In this situation, the rescaling operator performs a vital
function to control the number of copies of the fittest individuals.
