The most special characteristic of the new CNC ballspinning
machine falls on the female die which can feed
the balls in the radical directions during the working course
according to the orders from the central computer. Fig. 3
demonstrates the die in detail.
The stepped hollow shaft K is motored to revolve, so the
outer-ring supporter J begins the same movement, thus the
lower ring F also moves like K because of the joint between
them. Since the friction remains between E and the F, the
steel balls E move around the centre-line of the female die.
The elastic racket G is placed on the inner-ring support I, and
the pins H with three springs have the function to prevent the
elastic racket G from being damaged by the moving balls E
while the tubes are deformed. The dome A is designed for
the upper ring C feeding in the vertical direction because of
its two main special structures. One is the outer gear that is
matched with a set of driving system; the other is the inner
screw that is used to drive the movable cylinder D. the upper
ring can move in a range of the vertical distance, thus, resulting
that the balls E can move in the radical direction about
0–3 mm.
