I will never forget the embarrassing experience I had when I went to Wat Chai Wattanaram two years ago. My friends and I were going on a trip to Ayuthaya with my teacher at that time. We arrived at Wat Chai Wattanaram in the late afternoon. Once my friend saw Wat Chai Wattanaram Pagoda, he instantly said, “I’m the first.” before he ran to the Pagoda and quickly climbed up its staircase. Then I followed him saying, “I’m the second” and climbed up behind him. The next thing I knew was that a lot of my friends, about twenty people, all climbed up the Pagoda –only about five people chose not to. What we saw up there was the small image of Buddha. We had the beautiful sights for a while when our teacher said after all, “OK. Everyone come down here. You’ve still got to do your project presentation.” Then suddenly, all of us realized that we were unexpectedly trapped up here because Wat Chai staircase is too high and the stair is less than ten centimeters wide, I suppose. Therefore we replied hopelessly, “Help! We can’t go down.” But our teacher said, “Well, then I’ll leave.” Then we said, “Wait! Wait! Don’t go. We’re going down in a minute.” Eventually, we tried walking down the staircase very carefully, feeling so frightened that our faces were as white as a sheet. When I was walking down the stairs, I saw light flashes and heard camera clicking upon my face. Guess what! My friend, who didn’t climb up, ensured that all of us will certainly remember that event by taking photos of every single person who walked down the stairs! After this experience whenever my friends and I talk about that event, we laugh about it. But, after all, I always keep in my mind that I will never do something without thinking again.
