When the clocked ticked at 6:01 a.m., a cool, female voice from the clock reverberated around the room. It sounded as tough a real woman was just standing close to Jinri, talking to her, but in reality, it was coming out from the digital clock.
"Good morning. My name is Katherine. Please state your name and date of birth."
"Choi Jinri. March 29, 2997." Jinri answered.
"Thank you, Jinri. Please wait for your agenda today in a bit." Katherine said.
Jinri stared lazily at the device, yawned, then stared again. This "alarm clock" had been there since she arrived in the Refuge twelve years ago. It was a black, average-sized and rectangular digital device with two, significant differences from the clocks that existed a thousand years ago. First, this clock had a receipt slot on its right side wherein their agenda was printed; and second, there was an invisible, programmed voice - Katherine - who talked to Jinri every morning.
