Study Families around the World Collect pictures and books that show families from different cultures and different parts of the world. Choose pictures that show ordinary events, such as eating, sleeping, taking children to school, styling hair, washing clothes, and reading together. Have the children identify similarities and differences among the pictures. For example, you might have several pictures of a child helping a mother, each picture showing two people carrying food. The children might notice the differences in foods, containers, and clothing. If you use cutouts from calendars and magazines, the children can make books or bulletin board displays showing how families are alike and different.
