Hi, I found a lot of reference in the fandom for a Victor Trevor as a past friend of Sherlock's (or sometimes his ex boyfriend). Was wondering if this was a fandom reference?
Victor Trevor (as per the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle canon) was a friend of Sherlock’s from his days at Sidney Sussex College. He was involved in the first case that Sherlock Holmes ever took on: investigating the death of Victor’s father in the short story “The Adventure of the Gloria Scott”. According to the story, Sherlock and Victor were rather close friends, as Sherlock lived with Victor for a month, and as such, modern fans and fans of the show often prefer to think that Sherlock and Victor had a romantic and/or sexual relationship. Like Sebastian Moran, Victor Trevor is a canonical character who has not appeared in BBC’s Sherlock, but who appears in fan-made media fairly frequently. While Sebastian Moran is rather likely to appear in the show at some point, BBC’s Sherlock has deviated from the canon by changing Sherlock’s first case to the death of Carl Powers, thus it is unknown whether Victor Trevor will ever show up at all.
