Althouth hyperspectral
data provides very rich information that can be interpreted in
spectral terms to achieve high classification accuracies, our
study demonstrates that the joint use of spatial and spectral information can significantly improve classification results, in
particular, when spatial information provides an added value
to spectral information, as it is the case in the considered application.
Given the preliminary nature of our study, further
work should comprise testing of additional processing chains
and case studies in order to try to derive general observations
across different application domains.
