Well, as I mentioned in one of the previous asks, Mika is a vampire, so he’s bound to react to pretty much everything less strongly than a human would. Plus, this is Ferid, and I think Mika, knowing Ferid’s morbid nature in depth, was ready to him pulling something. Though, what Ferid actually did clearly exceeded everything that Mika had expected. And yes, his attention quickly shifted to Yuu, Akane’s head forgotten momentarily in the face of Yuu’s condition worsening, but that’s a natural reaction, in my opinion. Demon!Yuu screamed that Ferid defiled Akane, and I’m sure that Mika thinks the same, but Yuu is a priority. Mika’s fixation on Yuu aside, Akane is dead and they can’t help her anymore, while Yuu is alive and is in a dire need of help.
Imo, it’s not that Yuu cares less about his comrades, it’s more like they’re becoming a sort of an obsession. Yuu wonders if he is a demon or a human, and his answer is:
Yuu: If I can protect my comrades, I don’t care which I am.
Asuramaru: I see. Then let me tell you something: demons can’t make comrades. It’s kill-them-all for us.
Yuu: Then I can’t allow myself to become a demon.
Asuramaru: But if you take 3 pills at once, your demonization will advance much further the same instance.
Yuu: It’s to protect my comrades.
Asuramaru: What an awful contradiction.
Like Asuramaru pointed out, the situations don’t leave Yuu much choice: it’s either watch his comrades die because he’s not strong enough, or try to get more power, even from taboo sources, and try to protect them. I’d say this is pretty much the essence of humans that can be described as good guys by nature (Yuu, Guren). They can’t just sit and watch without trying to help, even if they know how huge the risks are. The not-so-good guys do basically the same, dubbing in the forbidden to get more power, the difference is they do it for less noble goals, like world domination… If you look at it this way, even the vampires’ dislike for human greed kinda makes sense, because all the humans, good and bad alike, would meddle in the forbidden anyway, their reasons aside.
