Amount of space available The amount of space available will crucially affect the end result. On a small stage, six dancers look like a lot, and can even suggest a crowd; on an enormous stage, a single child can look lost; too many dancers make the space look cluttered. The relative width or depth of a stage may necessitate specific respacing of patterns - making larger, ‘flattening out’ or ‘sharpening’ the angles of diagonal lines. Choreographically, extra steps may be needed to expand a work onto a very large space, as well as travelling out the existing ones.
