2.4 System independence of the age and technical characteristics
of the protection device
The new system had to be capable to manage protection parameters
no matter to the generation, producer and type of the
asset. That means that the system is also suitable for legacy
devices (electromechanical and analogue protection devices)
that do not have a capability to import the protection parameters.
As a result, the system had to have the capability of manual
input of protection parameters.
2.5 Reducing the number of manual input operations
The majority of the digital protection devices have a possibility
to export the setting parameters to an ASCII file. The Project
Team set as a core selection requirement a system that
was capable of importing those ASCII setting files into the
database; those parameters are recognized as protection functional
values. Specific focus on this mechanism was deemed
important in the exclusion the possibility of data corruption
that could happen through manual or duplicate inputs.
