Photocatalytic reactions of hydrogen production by water
splitting were conducted in a gas-closed system with a side
irradiation Pyrex cell. Photocatalyst powder (0.1 g) was
dispersed by a magnetic stirrer in solution (180 mL) containing
Na2S (15.13 g) andNa2SO3 (5.67 g) [26]. The photocatalysts were
irradiated by visible light (l > 420 nm) through a cutoff filter
froma 350WXe lampfor 5 h. For the optimal photocatalyst,NiS
cocatalyst for the promotion of hydrogen evolution was
precipitated in situ on the photocatalyst via adding Ni2þ
aqueous solution into photoreaction system. The amount of H2
gas was determined using gas chromatography (NaX zeolite
column, TCD detector, N2 carrier), except the optimal photocatalystphotodeposited
beingmeasured bymeasuring cylinder
directly.
