Food Services Program Manager

Job Description/Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and manages the personnel functions for the program which includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees; plans, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Directs, coordinates, and participates in preparation of, and cooking of food served or prepared by three center kitchens.
Coordinates activities of workers engaged in keeping business records: inventories, ordering or purchasing supplies, and delivery of foodstuffs to kitchens or off site locations for special events.Directs, plan and coordinate meals for special events on and off site
Determines and directs the collection of special donations and utilization of same
Ensures that appetizing, nutritionally balanced meals are prepared
In coordination with the kitchen and commodities supervisors, directs and approves weekly menus that maximize the use of available resources.
Works closely with the Food Service Volunteer Coordinator to ensure the optimum use of Volunteer resources.
Oversees the training of food service staff and volunteers.
Conducts staff meetings and in-service training of all personnel
Develop and maintain safety procedures for department
Inspect food-service spaces and equipment to ensure that all compliance for health department and Department of Education are being met
Attends weekly management meetings
Performs other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Job Qualifications:
MINIMUM:
3 years demonstrated increased level of responsibility in institutional setting
30 hours college level coursework or workshops in nutrition and sanitation
PREFERRED:
8 + years cooking in a high volume environment
Certification or graduation from a Culinary program or equivalent college coursework in nutrition, sanitation and safety.
American Culinary Federation membership/American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef
Management of decentralized services with a paid staff of 20+ employees

40 Hours, flexible to meet program needs (may include holidays and weekends)
Instructor in the Food Services arena
Valid California Drivers License
Demonstrated knowledge of California labor and wage practice
Proven leadership skills
Advanced computer skills
