A secondary advantage to the use of packaged systems
is the advantage of diversity. The design of a large
central air-conditioning system sometimes requires that
a compromise be made between the ideal type of system
for one part of a building and a different type of system
for another. When packaged systems are employed,
parts of a building with significantly different heating
and cooling requirements can be served by different
types of equipment. This will always provide improved
thermal comfort, and often results in improved efficiency
as well.
