His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn led a procession of 40,000 cyclists in “Bike for Mom” ride from the Royal Plaza to the 11th infantry regiment barrack in Bang Khen and back to the Royal Plaza covering a distance of 43 kilometres.
Tens of thousands people, most of them in blue T-shirts, lined the streets where the procession passed through to greet the Crown Prince and his daughter, HRH Princess Bhajara Kittiyabha, who also joined the bike ride.
The procession was divided into three groups: Group A was made up of the Crown Prince and the VIPs from both the private and government sectors, including Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha and his cabinet ministers; Group B was made up of government officials and members of the public led by Princess Bhajara Kittiyabha and Group C comprised mainly the public and members of the entertainment circle.
Altogether about 290,000 bikers from throughout the country joined the “Bike for Mom” cycling event.
After the end of the 43-km ride, the Crown Prince stayed on at the Royal Plaza to attend a concert held as a tribute to Her Majesty the King on the occasion of her 83rd birthday on August 12. He also attended the VDO presentation featuring his cycling activities.
One of the well-wishers who lined the streets to greet the Crown Prince, Mr Kanit Karnpantha, waited for hours at the Victory Monument to have a rare glimpse of the Crown Prince. He said he was very pleased to have seen the Crown Prince leading the biking procession.
Like many others, he said he would hang around there until the procession returned to the starting point to greet the Crown Prince.
