Three reactors were set
for the first approach, numbered with T1, T2, T3; samples of PPS and
MGWL for reactor T1 and reactor T2 were suspended in the distilled
water and the liquid PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) medium, which
was the nutrient solution composed of 200 g L−1 of peeled potato
and 20 g L−1 reagent-grade glucose; the initial total solid (TS) contents
in reactor T1 and reactor T2 were both of 3% (w/v); for reactor
T3, 3% TS was also got by adding only distilled water without PDA
medium; and then the citrate buffer 0.1 M pH 4.8 was used to adjust
pH value of 4.5 (T1, T3) and 6.0 (T2) (see Table 2); substrates of three
reactors were all steam sterilized by autoclaving (at 121 ◦C, 1 atm,
for 30 min).
