Most of the time, we do the same old things.
We go to work or school, we eat the same foods,
we see the same people. But sometimes we have
really unusual experiences and we do surprising
things, and incredible things happen to us. Today,
we are talking to a few people about amazing and
challenging life experiences.
Presenter: What’s the most amazing thing you’ve
ever seen?
Woman 1: Seen? Umm … I think the most
amazing thing I’ve ever seen was an
avalanche.
Presenter: An avalanche? Wow!
Woman 1: I know! It was amazing! We were skiing
in the Alps when we heard this big
noise, and then we saw an avalanche
on a mountain in the distance.
Presenter: Were you scared?
Woman 1: Not really. We were far away and
completely safe. And, it was OK,
because no one was injured. It was
actually really beautiful.
Presenter: Do you often go skiing?
Woman 1: Yes … twice a year, sometimes.
Presenter: Have you ever tried snowboarding?
Woman 1: Yes, I have. I love it! Actually, I went
snowboarding in Canada last month.
Presenter: What’s the most amazing thing you’ve
ever seen?
Man 1: The Grand Canyon, definitely. I went
there last year. It was incredible.
Presenter: OK, and what’s the bravest thing
you’ve ever done?
Man 1: Well, I’m not very brave, but I have
done a bungee jump.
Presenter: Really? How did you feel before
the jump?
Man 1: It was very, very scary. I was so nervous
I couldn’t even speak, but afterwards
I felt great. Actually, I did another jump
soon after.
Presenter: So you are brave!
Man 1: Well, I don’t know about that.
Presenter: Have you ever tried abseiling?
Man 1: No, I haven’t, but it looks exciting.
Maybe next year.
Presenter: What’s the bravest thing you’ve
ever done?
Woman 2: Well, I don’t think I’ve ever done
anything very brave, but I ran a
marathon for charity last year. That was
really tough.
Presenter: Is that the most challenging thing
you’ve ever done?
Woman 2: Yes, I think so. I’m not very sporty, so I
was pleased when I ran all that way
without stopping.
Presenter: How did you feel afterwards?
Woman 2: Very tired, of course, but also very
pleased — I raised a lot of money for
charity. I think it was definitely the best
thing I’ve ever done.
Presenter: That’s great!
Presenter: Have you ever run a marathon?
Man 2: No, I haven’t.
Presenter: What’s the most challenging thing
you’ve ever done?
Man 2: That’s a good question. The most
challenging thing I’ve ever done …
Well, when I was younger I used to
race motorbikes. I once took part in
the Isle of Man TT. It’s a very famous
motorbike race.

Presenter: Really? That’s amazing. Did you win?
Man 2: No, I’m afraid not. There were lots of
riders much better than me.
Presenter: It’s a very dangerous race, isn’t it?
Man 2: That’s right. I was very pleased to finish
it with no injuries. When I think about
it now, I feel proud that I did it, but at
the time I was really scared.
Presenter: Have you ever tried motor racing?
Man 2: Cars? No, never. I liked bikes; I never
tried racing cars. Actually, after the Isle
of Man TT, I retired from racing. That
was enough for me.
Presenter: Well done — it’s an incredible
achievement!
Man 2: Thanks.
