Investigation of the rheological and mechanical properties clearly show the influence of preliminary crosslinking,
the shore hardness, the amount of filler and vinyl groups on the elastic and viscous material and the crosslinking
behaviour of the solid silicone rubber compounds. Adapted influence parameters and especially a defined
preliminary cross-linking allow the concrete control of the elastic amount of the material behaviour, which is
decisive for the processing of the material in blow moulding. To ensure the forming of the part with compressed air,
the elastic behaviour is limited because the elastic properties reduce the fluidity of the rubber compounds and
intensify the elastic recovery. The forming behaviour of the preliminary cross-linked solid silicone rubbers is finally
analysed and evaluated in thermoforming. The results clarify the potential of the material to be processed in
extrusion blow moulding.
