2.3. Data analysis
All interviews were transcribed verbatim and were analyzed using the four categories depicted in the model by Healey and Jenkins (2009) (see figure one). Utterances were categorized as one of the four categories in this model. Examples of utterances defined as Research tutored are: “We have worked on academic writing since they were in grade 1, and have emphasized citation…” and “For each topic, two students have to choose a research article to present. Then we discuss methods used and challenge them to read articles in English.” Indications of Research led are: “… just the fact that the reading list is up to date” and “We are very concerned about the reading list within the subject … we have to keep up to date with research to a much larger degree.” Utterances referring to Research oriented are, for example: “… how to think, how to gain knowledge really.” “This week we're having a Methods course” and “A goal is that they develop insight into research methods.” For the final factor,
