The usage of Dillenia is very limited where the treated wood with preservations from D. grandifolia and D. reticulata is being used in moderate to heavy construction work and also to make furniture and other decorative work (Kochummen, 1972). Several indehiscent fruit from Dillenia species had been eaten raw or cooked as jelly or curry (Hoogland, 1952). Meanwhile, some of the Dillenia species (e.g., D. indica and D. suffruticosa) that have showy flowers and beautiful foliage structure had been used as ornamental plants in Peninsular Malaysia.
