So, why? Why let this go on?
He had no doubt that Daehyun was unsure if he was truly trustworthy – he was a smart man after all. But, there was something else behind his actions. But, what? Youngjae wondered if he'd ever understand what was going on inside the older man's head. “Where did you go today?” He knew how Daehyun would reply.
“I had an appointment.” Daehyun replied as he lit a cigar and put it between his lips.
"I want to start going with you.” Youngjae forced his voice to stay firm, wanting the older to know he was serious and he wasn't going to be waved off. He watched as the man sighed loudly before sitting down in the recliner in front of him. Daehyun took a long drag of his cigar before leaning forward and resting his elbow against his thigh, gazing into the younger man's eyes.
“No.” He finally spoke.
“Daehyun.” The younger man narrowed his eyes. “Why won't you let me go with you? It's like you don't-” He paused for a moment, thinking over if he really wanted to say his next words. “. . . trust me.” The words felt disgusting coming out of his mouth.
“Why do you think that?” The older raised an eyebrow and Youngjae swallowed thickly as he quickly tried to come up with an answer.
“You never let me get involved with anything. It's not fair, I. . . I want to be your partner.”
Daehyun stared at him, his expression so blank and so dark that there was no way Youngjae could even slightly guess what he was thinking. It was so utterly frustrating. “Fine.” He murmured before placing the cigar between his lips again.
