As the project under investigation is more than 100 years old, it
possesses a great scope for first three options of refurbishment. The
second part of this case study refers to second option. This option
needs huge investment, acquiring of public, government or forest
land. Also such schemes sometimes suffer on account of public
awareness resulting in various kinds of protests and time
consuming environmental clearances. The plant undertaken for
refurbishment and uprating also needs other infrastructures like
roads and other facilities transportation of heavy equipment and
machinery.
