The bacterium BS6 was isolated from long-term contaminated
soil with edible oil and was shown an excellent biosurfactantproducing
strain. The purified sample was inferred as a lipopeptide
and its critical micelle concentration and surface tension
imply the possibility of application on a commercial level. Moreover,
its good emulsification over a wide range of oils indicates that
the biosurfactant produced using edible oil waste as carbon is
suitable for using the waste cooking oil from the catering industry.
Further studies will promote the yield of this lipopeptide by optimizing
fermentation parameters or extraction means.
