Five routine samples gave discrepant results for the two methods
(Table 1). For these samples, the ISO method gave positive result
while the RapidChek Select result was negative. These false negative results can be attributed to low burden of Salmonella. Similarly in the
AFNOR validation, RapidChek Select gave false negative result in only
three samples of the 380 food samples tested. However, in the study
of Muldoon et al. (2009), totally 180 peanut butter samples were tested by the RapidChek Select and the FDA-BAM reference method and
no false-negative result was reported.
