The experiment was performed in an openfield, at the facilities
of the National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF), in
Heraklion, and the plants were exposed to the external climatic
conditions. Every year, at the start of the irrigation period, three to
four seeds of castor bean and sunflower were directly planted in
each pot with a small amount of compost. The seeds were irrigated
and then left to grow for ten to fourteen days. At the end of the
fourteen days, the fullest grown plants were chosen while the rest
were cut off
