Gongsun Long (born c. 380 BCE) was another Mingjia philosopher. Six chapters survive from a text known by his name.
He wrote down a famous debate known as the “White Horse Debate.”
In that text he stated “A white horse is not a horse.” He said this because he was trying to differentiate form (shape of a horse / horse-ness) from color (white / whiteness), or object from attribute (noun from adjective).
