142 and 145 C for both the pre-heat holding times of 5 and 25 s
showed two distinct phases: an induction period (the time period
during which a very thin layer of deposit forms on the stainless
steel surface of the tubing and causes very little or no decrease
in the OHTC) followed by a decline period (the time period during
which there is a growth of deposit on the initial thin layer that
results in a steady decrease in the OHTC). However, a high-heat
temperature of 150 C showed only a rapid fouling phase at all
pre-heat temperatures for both pre-heat holding times.
