Naruemon: To begin … Select one sheet of newspaper to be the outside of the bag and two more sheets that will be the inside of the bag
Areeya : 1 sheet means full 2 pages and 1 page means half of one sheet
Wilaiwan : You start with 3 sheets of newspaper. One will be the outside of bag and the other two will be the inside
Kantida : - Lay the sheet that will be the outside of the bag face-down on the table with the other 2 sheets on top of it. -Fold the top edge of the 3 sheets down by about one inch,and fold the bottom edge up to the middle of the sheet. -Glue the two inner sheets together at the top folded area. Then turn them over to glue the third sheet. -Apply glue to the bottom sheet in the 1 inch folded area and attrach that to the inner two sheets. - Now that you have glued the tops of the sheets to each other,it’s time to glue the bottoms together as well. - As shown in the photos, fold the bottoms in apply glue around the perimeter of the bottom folded piece and join the sheets together. – Now that top and bottom are glued, the next step is to insert one open side into the other and glue to make a cylinder. – Glue this side, insert here. – Glue well without wrinkles to from a clean Cylinder. – Now you must glue the bottom of the bag and add a reinforcement pad. It has to be a functional & usable bag. – This is a difficult part 4 inches from the bottom crease and open with your index finger to make a triangle shape on both sides. This defines the bag’s width. Make sure you triangles are symmetrical. Please follow me.
Areeya : About 4 inches from the bottom put your finger in to make a point ( Both sides ) left and right the same triangles. Now you need to fold , overlap and glve the bottom to close it .Fold elch side over the center line by about 1/8-1/4 inch. Apply glue to thess triangles and fold in . Glue thess triangles here , But don’t fold yet.Glue here . Now fold the overlap, lean up extra glue , and press well. Use you fingers to square up the bottom.And stand your bag. Wilaiwan : Fold 1 page of newspaper in half, then make a triangle, and foldit in half and foldit in half again. Open it up and bring all 4 corners to where the sreases meet in the center, to make a small square pad. Fold as-needed, to adjust the size of this plece to cover the bottom of the inside of you bag. Glue the pad together to hold its shape, apply a coat of glue to one side, and press it into the bottom of your bag. Now that you hare finished making the bag, it’s time to make the handles. Naruemon : Start by rolling a corner of the page back and forth on the skewer to give it some curl. This makes it a little easier to get the paper to wrap around the skewer. Now tuck the corner under the skewer and roll. Make Sure on flat sides on the skewer or it will get stuck later. As you roll, keep one hand on the paper at all fines, or it will un-roll and you will have to start over. *Remember to pull out the bamboo skewer from the rolled newspaper before it goes too far! keep rolling without the bamboo skewer. Apply glue to the end and finish rolling to complete this handle .Now, make another.
Kantida : In order to make Newspaper bags that are both beautiful & practical the handles must be joined securely with reinforcement patches. Follow along as we come down the home stretch to make a bag you can use, Tear one page in half, and then fold that piece in half and tear it in half, bend the 2 handles together and make a smooth handle shape.
Areeya : Apply glue to one half of the inside of the handle support, press the handle firmly in place, apply glue to the handle, and close the support.
Naruemon : Now do the same for the second handle. Apply glue to the entire back of the handle support patch, place it inside the bag and press firmly for a good bond. Do the same with the second handles.
Wilaiwan : Square up the sides for a more finished look, and
