The potentiometric stripping analysis with constant inverse
current in the analytical step enables a direct determination of cad-
mium, lead and copper in milk and fermented milk products. A ra-
pid and sensitive method was developed for the routine analyses,
whereas for more accurate and more selective analyses the sam-
ples were prepared by the microwave acid extraction. Due to the
increase of the PSA relative sensitivity a significant reduction of
the analysis time was possible, as well as a larger sample dilution.
Considering the Serbian regulations all the analysed milk samples
were correct, but two samples of the fermented milk products had
the cadmium and lead contents above the permissible limits.
Although the analysed samples were not representative (randomly
collected on the market), these results warn of the raw materials
contamination or (and) of the irregularities of the production
process
