Weed, bare your neck. I’ve come to cut out your throat.”
Bard Ray quickly typed out the lines he had prepared in advance, but there was no reaction from his opponent. Bard Ray was not even recognized; Weed didn’t even care.
Weed only activated normal attack skills. Bard Ray felt as if there was a wall between them as the fight took place. He felt as if he was going up against an impenetrable fortress. Every skill that he used felt like a shallow blow, and in turn every blow that he took hurt.
The equipment and skill level wasn’t so different, and he was putting everything he had into finding the right time to attack and counterattack. But regardless, all of his attacks were quickly
dealt with. After his terrible experience with defeat, he felt like he was stuck in a endless ocean of despair.
Bard Ray could not accept it. His pride of being the strongest was shattered to pieces. He went out to gather his strength and come back stronger.
Bard Ray challenged Weed five more times. But every time, the result was the same.
Even if he changed his combat style, Weed would see through it too easily. Plus every time they met, Weed would be at a higher level and with better equipment. The gap was too big.
After every hunt, Bard Ray gained experience, but he wasn’t an adventurer like Weed. Island
Labyrinth, Skull Knight, Magical Dragon. Plus, Weed hunted all these high level monsters alone. It only increase Bard Ray’s shame at his defeat. He swallowed his frustration and humiliation and gave up.
“Weed…”
Bard Ray spit out the name. He had never forgotten the shame of that day. It made him even more focused on Royal Road.
“I will not trample you just yet. My grudge is too big. Grow a little more. Collect more friends and colleagues that build up your reputation and then…”
Bard Ray imagined the day he attacked with the Hermes guild and its allies.
“I’ll squash you so thoroughly, you will never be able to show your face on the Versailles continent again!”
