Probiotic inoculated to culture water according to the methods of
Zhou et al. (2009) with slight modification of concentrations. Four trials
(three treated T-1, T-2 and T-3) and one control were carried out with
larvae of P. pelagicus in aerated 10 l aquaria tanks filledwith disinfected
natural seawater (28 ppt) at a density of 20 larvae per litre (200/tank).
The probiotic L. plantarum was tested daily (11:00 a.m.) at three concentrations,
1.0 × 106 colony forming units per millilitre (cfu ml−1)
(T-1), 5.0 × 106 cfu ml−1 (T-2), and 1.0 × 107 cfu ml−1 (T-3) and control
without any probiotic.
