I took a closer look at the designs, then back at the design brief, and then at the carpets in Kaplan’s and Lakeshore’s catalogs. I put a red box next to ones that don’t work, and a green box next to ones that do. Unfortunately when you look from a use perspective, most don’t work. See my notes in the attached, and please go back and read the brief and study the carpets in the market. Too much emphasis went into geometric designs, as opposed to usage. These are classroom management tools and it has to be clear where kids sit, and a design. Study the notes and brief, and look at the sales figures to see which sell and that will help you understand as well. So don’t go to nature themes until you get these. Also, just do one color varaiation – just primary, for this first round. Don’t do all the other primary variations on the same design until we get the basics down. Remember, these are not just decoration. They server a very specific purpose.
Again, read my notes and really study the lessons in the notes. It’s easy if you view it from that perspective. Each category has a different concept inherent in the rug design, theme, usage, etc.
