Patient Satisfaction
Patient satisfaction scores are an important surrogate marker for quality in patient care. After our improvement projects, Press Ganey and the Council of Teaching Hospitals peer group percentile rankings for 4 questions demonstrated significant improvement (Table 2). We increased our ‘‘likelihood to recommend’’ by 60 percentile points (12th percentile to 75th percentile) and improved ‘‘waiting time to see doctor’’ from 7th percentile to 75th percentile. For patients reporting being ‘‘informed about delays,’’ we improved by more than 50 percentile points (4th percentile to 57th percentile). Since the inception of the fast-track process, we have also maintained a ‘‘likelihood to recommend’’ for this patient population at the 99th percentile.
