In the waste sector, GHG emissions are not only generated
through waste degradation but also from energy consumption for
various operation and maintenance activities. In addition, recovery
of materials and energy from waste via appropriate treatment
methods contribute to avoiding virgin resource production and
minimizing GHG emissions. Therefore, in this study, detailed life
cycle input and output analysis was performed for individual
treatment methods considering the upstream and downstream
processes in order to quantify the consumption rate, recovered rate
and potential avoidance rate (that would otherwise have been
produced via virgin production processes) of materials and energy,
