1-364 While this may seem to some to be a glimpse of the obvious, and to others unnecessary fuss consider hoe decisions affecting others (and especially the seastaff) are made in management meetings in reaction to changes threatening the shipowning or management organisation. How much thought is given to the effect on seastaff, their morale and the guality, efficiency and safety of their work. These changes are then disseminated to the ships with little or on preparation and the managers are left wondering at the intrasigence of the seastaff. Finally, when considering change in the workplace, it is important to remember that the workplace is also the seafarer's home for much of his life.
