Changes in quality of life, functional classification and symptoms
HF-specific HRQOL improved among patients in the self-care management getting better trajectory, whereas there was no significant change in HRQOL among patients in the self-care management getting worse trajectory (Figure 2). More patients in the self-care management getting better trajectory had at least a five-point improvement in HRQOL compared with those in the self-care management getting worse trajectory (55.3% vs. 46.2%, p>0.05). Changes in self-care management and HRQOL occurred in the absence of change in functional classification over the course of six months in both the self-care management getting better (p=0.551) and getting worse (p=0.721) trajectories (data not shown). Although anxiety was significantly higher in the self-care management getting better trajectory at enrollment, all other baseline values and changes in physical and psychological symptoms were similar between the two self-care management trajectories (Figure 2).
