Yi
• Yi means righteousness.
• Yi in term of Confucius means the oughtness of a situation.- that is knowing what you should do based don the right thing(kind of ethic).
• Everyone in a society has certain things which he ought to do, and which must be done for their own sake, because they ought to do, which must be done for their own sake, because they are the morally right things to do.
• Yi connotes a moral sense: the ability to recognize what is right and wrong, what is the right thing to do.
• Thus, yi is the intent to do the right thing no matter what. Which is enabling one to do what is proper and fitting in relation to others.
• “When you meet someone better than yourself, turn your thought to becoming his equal. When you meet someone not as good as you are, look within and examine your own self.”
