Preprocessor and cutting methods
The preparation of twin scale cuttings involved the complete
removal ofthe firsttwo outermostimperfect scales as well as allthe
roots of bulbs while the top third of bulbs was cut off. The remaining
part was cut longitudinally into 12 equal segments from the basal
plate. Segments were then separated into twin scales, and every
twin scale served as one propagule. Only the outer 3 propagules
were used from each segment. All propagules were dipped into
0.1% carbendazol solution for 25 min. Surface water was removed
by dabbing with sterile tissue paper.
