Introduction
Chlorine is a widely used disinfectant in municipal water supply
systems due to its strong disinfection performance and low cost.
However, dissolved organic matter (DOM) in water can react with
residual chlorine to form genotoxic and cytotoxic disinfection
byproducts (DBPs), including trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic
acids (HAAs), as well as other known and unknown compounds
