Analysis of toxigenicity of the A. flavus isolates recovered from peanuts
demonstrated that the rate of displacement of toxigenic strains
was lower compare to those found in soil, with a ratio nontoxigenic to
toxigenic near to 1:1. Similar results were obtained by Dorner and
Horn (2007) who found relatively high incidence of toxigenic isolates
in treated peanuts compared with the relatively low incidence in treated
soil. These authors suggest that toxigenic isolates of A. flavus are
more aggressive colonizers of peanuts than nontoxigenic strains.
