Affi nities — Six species of Mangifera (all in the subgenus
Mangifera , section Mangifera ; Kostermans and Bompard
[1993]), including Mangifera sp . 1 (which is similar to M . fl ava
Evrard and may be conspecifi c; K. Chayamarit, BKF, personal
communication), M . collina Kosterm., M . fl ava , M . indica , M .
linearifolia (Mukh.) Kosterm., and M . sylvatica Roxb., and
Melanochyla bracteata King (Anacardiaceae) ( Fig. 2A – G ),
were compared in detail with the fossil leaf because of similari-ties in leaf shape and venation patterns.
