The marginalist economic assessment carried out in this article highlighted the existence of an optimal level of recycling which is not the maximum. This is due to the difference between private costs and marginal benefits, and social costs and marginal benefits, given the existence of market imperfections. Those imperfections make the WEEE management in Brazil does not benefit from economies of scale being very dependent on regulatory instruments for its operation [9-10-33].
Huisman, Schuelp et ap. and Zimmermann [16-18-20] provide information that enables the proposal of strategy to explore the WEEE management taking maximum economic advantage through profit by selling their components. The inclusion of RFID in WEEE management as a way to reach environmental goals at lower costs and greater benefits to society enables the elimination of market imperfections in order to reach the social optimum [23-24].
