At the Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology
(NDUAT), Faizabad, a compulsory course of two credits along with an
elective course of two credits in agroforestry (Appendix II) were started as
a part of the undergraduate agricultural degree program in 1978 when the
college of agriculture was established. This was done to promote
agroforestry in rural areas through the graduates. Teaching and practical
training facilities have since been created by developing agroforestry
research and instructional farms where various agroforestry models have
been developed in an area of about 200 hectares.
